A Message from our Chairman

We are really heartbroken to have taken the tough but necessary decision today to postpone the Soldiering On Awards Gala Celebration planned for December 15th 2021. For many people concerned this has been a tussle of a heart versus head decision. The head of course had to win.

Having consulted with various key stakeholders we are united in postponing the event until 2022 although of course thoroughly devastated for the community, the winners, the finalists and others who would have been celebrating at the event. We must always of course consider the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone attending the evening. The recent increase in cases of Covid-19, the forecasted increase in cases and the limited restrictions which the government has put in place have all contributed to an inappropriate level of uncertainty, anxiety and risk for a large number of attendees at the event. This should not be the back-drop to celebrate the great achievements and contributions of so many wonderful people.

We understand there will be a mix of emotions; disappointment, relief and frustration, amongst special guests, sponsors, judges, winners and finalists; but we are confident that you all know that we are doing the right thing for the health, wellbeing and safety of everyone involved in this event, in particular for those who are vulnerable.

We will, of course, keep the community updated on the confirmation of a new date for the event. There is planning yet to be done with the support of the Park Plaza Hotel, Westminster Bridge, many other suppliers and the key support of our Award sponsors. That is all for another day.

If anyone has accommodation bookings directly with the venue or other places please remember to cancel them at your earliest convenience. In the meantime let me take this opportunity on behalf of everyone involved in Soldiering On Awards to extend our very best wishes for the festive season, your New Year celebrations and the precious time you will spend with friends and family over the next few weeks.
